So – I spoke in the last post about picking up new games and this was one of them. I managed to pickup a lot of the old metal Dredd minis from the previous Mongoose game and even their rulebook but never got to play it…or even paint anything. But I figured I would fix that this time around.
I grabbed the box when it went up for preorder and got it for Xmas. It comes with 2 judges, a gang of block thugs, rulebook, and all the tokens etc you need for a decent price! The models are all resin and a softer type – almost like finecast but not as fragile. Easy enough to work with but a little medicore on some details. I wasn’t too happy with the judges so I supplemented them with the older metals I have which are almost the same size.
I had a lot of fun painting the block gang since it was so different than the normal things I would paint up. Lots of colours and random bits and bobs, bright hair and jackets, exposed flesh, etc.
The judges were great to finally paint after staring at their sad metal bodies for so long. The sculpts are lovely and as mentioned height wise are close enough (a bit smaller than the modern ones).
I do want to buy some more of the warlord models as they have some great stuff but that will have to wait a bit. I hope to convince someone to do some gaming with me on this one but worst case ill wrangle one of the kids into it later :).
I have various other metals I hope to paint up and add to this including more block gangers, rogue robots, monkeys in gangster suits, and a pile of judges!
Cool!! This looks and sounds good
